Fall is definitely the busiest season for this Ventura family photographer, and I totally get it. The year is winding down, the weather is gorgeous, and there are holiday cards to be made. But hold on, I’ve got a thought: spring might just be even better!
I know that being in Southern California means that there isn’t necessarily a big fluctuation in our seasons, but it’s true that even after a little rain in the winter, I can without a doubt bet that there will at least be some lush, green grass ready to greet my clients by the time mid-March rolls around. I’ve put together this handy blog post to give you an idea of some of my favorite locations in Ventura County for springtime photos.
The weather is just as lovely in the spring, green grass is sprouting out of the ground and making everything look so alive and beautiful, and there’s even the opportunity to get some wildflowers mixed in with your mountain and beach backdrops.
Here’s another perk to booking a springtime session: the daylight lasts longer once we “spring” our clocks forward. That means it’s even easier to book a session during a weekday evening if desired, therefore providing even more flexibility and time when your session could occur. As a Ventura family photographer, I love how this season offers longer days and a more relaxed vibe.
If you’ve never been to Harmon Canyon, it’s worth a visit, even if you’re not having your photos taken. Harmon Canyon is a great place for a hike, especially with little ones, during all times of the year, but it is especially amazing in March/April when the yellow and white daisies are blooming like crazy.
You can find Harmon Canyon Preserve at 7511 Foothill Road in Ventura.
Santa Rosa Valley is another location that makes for a great, family-friendly hike and dog walk. Near the beginning of the trail is a big bridge and after you cross it there is no shortage of photo ops. Just like Harmon Canyon, this location is good any time of the year, but I especially love when the green grass grows tall and beautiful at this location. It just screams spring, which is especially fun to find in a place like California where there’s not a ton of fluctuation in seasons.
You can find Santa Rosa Valley Park at 10241 Hill Canyon Road in Camarillo.
Can’t decide whether you want beach or mountain photos? Serra Cross is the place for you. The park is up on a hill high enough that you have an incredible view of the shoreline and city of Ventura. There are also mountains surrounding the park and beautiful landscaping.
You can find Serra Cross at 350 Summit Drive in Ventura.
These three locations I’ve shared only scrape the surface of what kinds of beautiful spring landscapes are waiting to be photographed and enjoyed by your family. If you want to set up a spring family session, please get in touch through the form on my website. You belong among the wildflowers.
