Newborn shoots are best within the first three weeks of birth. My shooting style during newborn sessions is typically referred to as baby-led posing. That means I work around how your baby is most comfortable so we can maximize our time and so that I can provide a variety of photos for you. For newborn sessions, I will come to you with everything needed to set up your in-home session. My style of newborn photography tends toward more natural, classic newborn poses. These sessions usually last two to three hours.
"Erica did our newborn session for our youngest. They came out perfect. So many great ones, we had a hard time choosing which to hang up. Would use her again in a heartbeat."

Lifestyle newborn sessions are different from studio newborn sessions for a few reasons. These sessions take place at your home instead of at a studio. The benefit of this is that in addition to capturing images of your newborn, we can also photograph parts of your home that are special or meaningful to you to round out the picture of what life was like during the time that this baby came into your lives.
If your baby's nursery is a special space to you, we can document the way it looks - the crib, the artwork you've chosen to display, the way the room has a beauty and calm that has made space for this big little addition to your family. If you have a pet, that furry family member can also make a cameo in some photos.
As a photographer, I place a high value on authenticity and storytelling. To me, the best way to achieve those types of documentary style images is to take them in your home.
All newborn collections include both pictures and a video.
When you book a newborn session with me, you have the option to add on a 30 minute maternity session at a discounted rate.

Your newborn session will be about three hours long. I won’t be shooting photos that whole time, but that allows time for all the things newborns need (milk, changing, burping, soothing, etc.) in between their sweet little naps.
When it comes to lifestyle newborn sessions, all we need is a good space in your home where your family can snuggle up for some photos together - that can be on a couch, your bed, in the baby’s room - wherever you’re comfortable. I can check out which rooms have the best light once I’m there, but I also bring along a flash to create light where needed.
My newborn “posing” is centered around how your new little one is most comfortable. I don’t force poses or use props. The typical “flow” for a newborn session involves family and sibling photos first and then solo photos of your baby. This usually gives us a good gap between family time and solo portrait time to feed and change your baby as well.
